The Labyrinth

The Labyrinth is the Westmeath Minotaurs American Football Club Hall of Fame. The name is derived from Greek mythology. The labyrinth was designed by Daedalus for King Minos of Knossos on Crete to contain the ferocious half-man/half-bull known as the Minotaur.

The purpose of induction into the Labyrinth is to recognize outstanding achievement sustained over many years in service to the club. The achievements can be cumulative and derive from playing, coaching, administrating/managing, or sustained support provided to the club. Induction into the Labyrinth is for life and is the highest honor within the club awards system.

Awards Night & Individual Achievement

Awards Night is a social event to honor the team as a whole, player achievements, and those who support the club. Awards night is the final event and major highlight on the season’s calendar. It is usually held in the month of August.

Through the years the awards have changed to suit the club. In 2018, the coaches set down some criteria for awards to provide some continuity to the process.
